We are often asked specifically about support for legacy PCB shielding applications for which a replacement or second source is required. In such cases, there is an existing PCB design in production and re-spinning the layout is usually not practical. What is required is the ability to re-specify the metalwork while respecting fully the existing PCB design legacy constraints, as well as any other external constraints on the mechanical envelope.

Because our system is designed to offer full configuration flexibility from the start, we can easily adapt our package to whatever constraints may apply. Everything from the X/Y position of any wall or feature to the Z height of the package is specified to a resolution of 0.001". We can match the PCB layout and any other requirements exactly, eliminating any concerns with re-spinning the PCB layout.

An associated question usually arises with respect to performance. In comparative terms, our solutions are recognized to provide comparable to better RF/EMI shielding effectiveness. In practical terms, we have yet to encounter a scenario where there was performance degradation as a result of conversion to our shielding solution from the legacy product.
