electronic hardware made easy.™

Both our ferrous (steel based) and non-ferrous (copper-nickel based) solutions offer compliance with Directive 2002/95/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 January 2003 on the restriction of the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment. The alloys and finishes we offer do not contain banned substances, and we offer RoHS certification by part number on demand.

All of our products also enable compliance with the requirements of Directive 2002/96/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 January 2003 on waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE). The metalwork solutions we offer are inherently well suited to recovery and recycling efforts. 3Gmetalworx recycles 100% of its metal by-products through convenient and available channels, and the metalwork products we ship out are equally recyclable.

For specialized applications that may require a specialty alloy like phosphor bronze, beryllium copper, copper or brass, an additive finish is usually applied. Depending on the combination of alloy and finish selected, the final specification may not be RoHS compliant. Such specialized material and finish combinations require case-specific analysis to determine compliance.

In certain industries, plated parts still require lead content in the plating, despite the industry push to lead-free. We note that certain forms of tin plating without lead are not considered applicable in situations where whisker (filament) growth can be realistically expected. In such cases, we can offer plated finishes including lead, and in compliance with ASTM B545 requirements for managing tin whisker formation.

3Gmetalworx standard alloys are RoHS/WEEE compliant, and are not susceptible to whisker formation issues.
